What's martinigans?

Martinigans, celebrated in parts of Austria and Bavaria, is a traditional feast held on November 11 in honor of Saint Martin of Tours, the patron saint of winegrowers, soldiers, and geese. It typically features a roasted goose (Martinigans or “Martin’s goose”) as the centerpiece, symbolizing an old legend in which honking geese revealed Saint Martin’s hiding place when he tried to avoid becoming a bishop. The day often includes church services, processions with lanterns, and local festivities marking the end of the harvest season.
